Advanced level – speak English as a native speaker
The Advanced level is the penultimate step on the ladder of mastering the English language. After passing this stage, you will be able to confidently declare that you are fluent in the language. Graduates of philological universities demonstrate their knowledge at the Advanced English level. And you will easily deal with spontaneous fluent speech both in professional and in everyday communication.
When should you start with the Advanced English level
To understand at what stage you are now and where to move on, you need to take our English level test. Also, when choosing an English course, you can focus on the following factors:
- you can easily talk about any topic, but sometimes you make minor mistakes, mostly due to lack of attention;
- the grammar of the English language does not cause difficulties, but now you need to know the subtleties and learn more complex constructions;
- English-language movies and songs are almost always understandable to you, but sometimes you need the help of subtitles;
- you have graduated from a university and want to maintain the existing level or have recently completed your studies at the Upper-Intermediate level.

What will you know at the end of the course
At this stage, the student is already fluent in all important grammatical constructions and lexical topics of English. Therefore, there will be a minimum of new materials. In grammar, you will repeat all the tenses of the verb in active and passive constructions, modal verbs, get to know impersonal constructions, compound nouns, inversion, split sentences, conditional sentences of mixed types, discursive markers and ellipsis.
As for the lexical component, you will expand the existing database on topics such as feelings and emotions, work, the environment, sports and health, laws and politics, technology, travel, education, the meaning of life, historical events, modern problems of society.
How will your skills develop during the advanced course
Having completed the courses on this level, you will achieve serious results on all fronts: vocabulary, reading, speaking, writing and listening.
- You will be able to operate 4000-6000 words. Your vocabulary will be replenished with a variety of idioms and stable expressions that will make your speech more fluent and natural.
- You will be able to read unadapted literature, including English classics, rarely resorting to a dictionary. Technical and academic texts will not cause difficulties in understanding. The hidden meaning of the most diverse types of texts will also be clear to you.
- Spontaneous conversation on any topic for about five minutes will be your new achievement at the Advanced level. There will be complex grammatical constructions, a variety of synonyms and phrasal verbs in speech. You will be able to argue your point of view without any problems.
- You will be able to easily write a clear, well-structured essay, an article, a report, an official letter in accordance to all language rules. You will easily use both business vocabulary and metaphors, epithets where necessary.
- One of the most difficult skills for many students is listening. Now you will understand up to 95% of unadapted speech in English, even with minor defects and poor quality.
How long does it take to master the advanced level
For someone who is seriously taking up language learning, not only for work or life abroad, but also for their own improvement and successful career advancement, mastering the advanced level is an important goal.
